FAILURE TO FORM AUTHORITIES PREVENTED BiH FROM PROGRESSING ON EUROPEAN PATH

 

BANJALUKA, NOVEMBER 13 /SRNA/ - At a meeting with newly-appointed Ambassador of Sweden to BiH Johanna Stromquist, Republika Srpska President Željka Cvijanović stressed that the blockade of the formation of authorities prevented BiH from progressing on the European path.

 

Cvijanović has said that the failure to form authorities at the same time halted a host of reform and development projects, of which institutional and political stability depends in the long run, as well as the standard of living of citizens in both Entities, says a press release from the Office of the Republika Srpska President.

During talks about political circumstances in BiH, Cvijanović has pointed out that the basic problem is the fact that a new Council of Ministers and authorities at the level of the FBiH have not been formed 13 months after elections, adding that the implementation of citizens’ democratically expressed electoral will cannot be subject to political conditions.

At the meeting in Banjaluka, Cvijanović and Stromquist discussed the current political and economic situation in Srpska and BiH, the European integration process and challenges facing BiH on that path.

Cvijanović welcomed Stromquist to BiH and expressed expectations that good cooperation between institutions of Srpska and Sweden will be additionally improved in the coming period. /end/sg
