BANJA LUKA, MAY 23 /SRNA/ - President of the United Srpska Nenad Stevandić told SRNA that the Central Election Commission /CEC/ of BiH is behaving like a state within a state by postponing the elections for November 15, since it made such a decision without consulting relevant institutions.

Stevandić pointed out that all the problems are based on the illegitimacy of the election commission, which is under the full party control of the SDA, PDP and SDS, and that as such it cannot even make a logical decision based on the law.

According to him, it is unbelievable that people, who are fully aware that they have no legitimacy in their mandate, make decisions as if they were a state within a state without waiting for any decision of court or consultation with the Parliament, the Ministry of Finance and the Council of Ministers of BiH.

Stevandić also thinks that it is unbelievable that the CEC will postpone the local elections for November, when the flu season begins, instead of adapting to the epidemiological situation, as they do throughout Europe, especially in the Balkans.

He cited the example that both Serbia and Croatia, during the coronavirus epidemic. moved the election date for June and July.

"Only the CEC of BiH, despite all epidemiological measures, moved that date from October to November, just at the time when the flu season begins and when we do not know what the possible return of the coronavirus epidemic will look like", Stevandić said.

The local elections in BiH will be held on November 15, instead of October 4, the Central Election Commission decided today. /end/bo
