SERBS ALWAYS SHOWED STRENGTH DESPITE SUFFERING

DOBOJ, September 9 /SRNA/ - Serb Member of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik stated Monday in Doboj that the suffering of Serbs and the injustice incurred to them in the 20th century hurts the most and added that Serbs as a freedom-loving people will never give up on Republika Srpska.

"At the end of the past century, Serbs and their identity came under attack from everyone equally, in an attempt to bring them to the edge of history and defame them,” Dodik stated in Doboj during the event “Exodus and Persistence” - a reminder of war events in Vozuća and the ethnic cleansing of more than 40,000 Serbs from Zenica, Žepče, Banovići, and Zavidovići.

Dodik said that the truth had to win, and recalled that in World War I and World War II, the number of Serbs was almost halved, but that they got on their feet again and showed their strength.

"So does Republika Srpska show its strength today in a hostile environment which has always aspired to reduce its power and eliminate freedom in Republika Srpska and have others impose solutions on us,” said Dodik.

He pointed out that Serbs had always only tried to defend themselves, their identity, language, culture, alphabet, religion, the patron saint’s day custom, because someone was and is constantly bothered by them.

"And it is as if nothing has ever happened here, as if none of them ever killed anyone, as if the El Mijahid squad who cut Serbs’ heads off were never here,” said Dodik.

According to him, the world only became aware when they started beheading people in Syria that the same was done here in these parts in the same way, only to Serbs.

"The people I don’t like at all, and I don’t hate anyone, are our people who easily forget our difficult past as it is a certain sign that it will happen to us again if we are not aware of the need to defend ourselves; a kind of defence of our identity is this event too,” said Dodik and thanked for an invitation to the event in Doboj.

He reiterated that Republika Srpska was the state of the Serb people, that it had all elements of a state.

Dodik recalled that together with him a member of the BiH Presidency is Šefik Džaferović, who was, minutes say that on August 23, 1993, being chief of the Zenica Security Service at the time, stopped by a group of Mujahideen who were executing Serb prisoners at the time, beheading them, and that Džaferović failed to do anything.

The Serb member of the BiH Presidency pointed out that Serbs were a freedom-loving nation who were not going to give up on Republika Srpska or its independence.

"That is the only way to repay the debt to the killed ones,” he said.

Srpska is committed to Serbia, a strong Serbian identity, and in favour of respecting others, he said.

"Do not mess with our freedom and do not mess with our wounds! That’s how we’ll keep living. We will respect others as much as they respect us. I am certain of the good of Republika Srpska and Serbia. Long live Srpska and Serbia!" said Dodik.

On behalf of the hosts, the people of Doboj and Vozuća, chairwoman of the Doboj city assembly Sanja Vulić presented Dodik with the emblem of the 4th Ozren Brigade.

The Monday evening event in Doboj, which was attended by Srpska President Željka Cvijanović, was organised by the Association of Zavidovići Natives seated in Doboj.

Serbs from Vozuća were brutally banished in Operation Hurricane of the so-called Army of BiH which lasted from September 10 until September 24, 1995. It was preceded by NATO bombing and destruction of Serb civilian repeaters and facilities.

A total of 23,000 soldiers of the 2nd and 3rd Corps of the so-called Army of BiH, the El Mujahid Squad with the support of the NATO quick reaction forced attacked three light infantry brigades of the Army of Republika Srpska.

Thirty Serb villages were burnt to the ground then, 1,920 Serb families with 7,680 members were banished, more than 500 soldiers and civilians were killed. Earthly remains of more than 120 Serb soldiers and civilians are still searched for, with constant obstruction and covering up of witnesses and evidence. /end/dš
