VOZUĆA SYMBOL OF SUFFERING AND INVINCIBILITY TOO

DOBOJ, September 9 /SRNA/ - President of Republika Srpska Željka Cvijanović stated Monday in Doboj that Vozuća is a symbol of pain and suffering, and of invincibility too.

During her speech at the event ”Exodus and Persistence,” Cvijanović pointed out that the fact that the former residents were gathering and loved their native area showed their perseverance, invincibility and constancy.

"I am always full of pride and joy when I say that people who grew up there and went to live in some other places were always extremely proud, people with integrity,” said Cvijanović.

She noted that when she was growing up, Vozuća smelled like childhood, when there was a common space with Ozren and Teslić, when people went through many things, and that Vozuća during the war reminded her of all the terror.

"It is true that everything we enjoy today living in freedom was defended there /in Vozuća/," said Cvijanović.

She noted that during the war, there were many casualties and relocated families in Vozuća, brutally destroyed and torched villages, 30 of them, 2,000 families on the run who had to find a new home somewhere else, mostly in Doboj, Teslić, Prnjavor.

Cvijanović expressed gratitude to everyone who sacrificed for Republika Srpska defending its freedom.

"We would not have had this freedom today, we would not have had this development had it not been for the contribution in all parts of Republika Srpska and the glorious Army of Republika Srpska and civilians, many brave women who together with men carried the burden of the war and ultimately achieved a common victory,” emphasised Cvijanović.

She believes Srpska as a society is striding forward, that it is necessary to preserve institutions of Republika Srpska and stability.

Cvijanović noted that only the people who are aware of the challenges ahead of them are successful because they keep them alert and ready to respond to them.

"That’s why we must preserve Srpska’s institutions. They will provide us the guarantee for our lives and future generations. They will also confirm that the sacrifice given for freedom actually made sense. We have to pay homage to everyone who defended Srpska on the frontline, who gave all they had and to the people who made difficult political decisions. And here we are, we made it,” said the Srpska president.

Cvijanović pointed out that Srpska as a society was bold enough to defend what it had to.

"Many things were created by the media and lobbies at the time when we didn’t think about it in such way. That’s why I underline it is important to understand the processes and recognise threat,” she said

She noted that political agreements or disagreements were least important.

"The most important is Republika Srpska and thank you to everyone who made it the way it is. Thank you to Serbia which has stood with us and helped us all these years,” said Cvijanović.

She is certain Srpska will grow stronger and stronger.

"I am certain we will grow more mature as a people, more aware of the challenges and of the fact that Srpska and its institutions need to be defended and safeguarded,” stressed Cvijanović.

On behalf of the hosts, the people of Doboj and Vozuća, Mayor of Doboj Boris Jerinić presented Cvijanović with the emblem of the 4th Ozren Brigade.
