BANJALUKA, September 16 /SRNA/ - President of Republika Srpska Željka Cvijanović stated Monday that if Turkey opens up its borders to migrants, it might be catastrophic for Bosnia and Herzegovina and everyone on the migration route, but that Srpska must execute the conclusions of its Government stating that there are no conditions to accommodate migrants.

"We have insisted since 2015 that capacities need to be improved, borders protected and modalities found for handling this. We have heard the Council of Ministers say there are no funds to increase the number of border police officers, but they did have money to hire people in administration,” Cvijanović told the press in Banjaluka.

She says the problem is huge because the European Union has closed its borders.

"We in Srpska have to carry out the Government conclusions stating that we are not able to check migrants, and they definitely pose security risks and health challenges. Hard times are ahead of us, and if the new Council of Ministers is not formed, there won’t be coordination of all levels of authorities, meaning that it will be even more difficult to manage the crisis,” said Cvijanović. /end/dš
