NEW SURGERY FACILITY OPENED IN THE PRESENCE OF TOP OFFICIALS OF SRPSKA AND SERBIA

SLATINA, FEBRUARY 14 /SRNA/ - In the presence of Republika Srpska President, Milorad Dodik, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, the newly built facility of the Orthopedic Surgery Clinic of the Dr. Miroslav Zotović Institute was officially opened in Slatina.

The opening was also attended by National Assembly Speaker, Nenad Stevandić, Prime Minister, Radovan Višković, ministers in the governments of Srpska and Serbia, Srpska representatives in joint institutions, as well as representatives of the Srpska health sector. The Srpska Government and the Institute for Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Surgery "Dr. Miroslav Zotović" invested BAM 38 million in the facility, which was ceremonially opened as part of the celebration of the Candlemas/Sretenje - Statehood Day of Serbia and Statehood Day of Republika Srpska. Putting the new orthopedics facility into operation increases the possibility of performing a larger number of operations per year, but also creates preconditions for increasing the capacity for neurological rehabilitation at the Delibašino Selo /Trapisti/ site. The new facility has 59 beds, four modernly equipped operation theatres, four outpatient clinics, a diagnostic ward, a musculoskeletal NMR device, an osteodensitometry device, and a laboratory. Annually, the Orthopedic Surgery Clinic performs about 2,000 surgeries, the largest part of which relates to the installation of artificial hip joints, about 550, the installation of artificial knee joints, about 600, and arthroscopic knee and shoulder operations, about 400. The new facility of the Orthopedic Clinic has 4,000 square meters of usable area and is entirely owned by the Dr. Miroslav Zotović Institute, whose founder is the Government of Republika Srpska. For the first time this year, Republika Srpska and Serbia are jointly celebrating Candlemas/Sretenje, the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia and the Statehood Day of Republika Srpska.
