TWO PERSONS ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF DESECRATING CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF ASSUMPTION OF MOST HOLY MOTHER OF GOD

TUZLA, JULY 18 /SRNA/ - Persons with initials DŽ.H. /40/ and K.P. /32/, both from Tuzla, have been arrested on suspicion of desecrating the Cathedral Church of Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God in Tuzla, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton said in a statement.

The suspects are accused of breaking into the church, stealing a certain amount of money, and damaging the reliquary of Saint Blessed Matrona of Moscow. They have been taken to official premises for criminal processing. All further measures are being taken at the order of the cantonal prosecutor, the police said. The reliquary of Saint Blessed Matrona of Moscow was damaged in the Cathedral Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God in Tuzla, the door of the church shop was broken, and donated money was stolen, priest Miloš Trišić told SRNA. The Cathedral Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God is the central church of the Zvornik-Tuzla Eparchy and a national and cultural monument of BiH.
