KARAN: IMPOSING DECISION ON PROPERTY WOULD LEAD TO THE BREAKUP OF BiH

BANJA LUKA, APRIL 21 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska President Siniša Karan stated that imposing a decision on property would lead to the breakup of BiH, noting that Bosniak politicians should understand that there can be no happiness in BiH as long as the OHR and the influence of the international community exist.

Karan emphasized that the property issue in BiH has a political dimension, as it is being used to eliminate the sovereignty of Srpska in its constituent elements. He pointed out that one of those constituent elements is territory, which can be viewed as property. “If you deny Srpska the right to property, you eliminate its statehood, which is one of the key elements of sovereignty under the Dayton. I believe that the property issue is not political, but constitutional-legal in nature, thus already been resolved. Property has been assigned to the entities, and there is no state property – the Dayton does not recognise it,” Karan said. Karan urged the OHR not to fall under the influence of Bosniak politicians who are calling on it to impose a property-related solution. “If they attempt to do so, we will react and state that they are solely responsible for the fact that BiH cannot survive, because in that way they are leading it toward its breakup,” Karan told ATV. As long as the OHR and the influence of the international community exist, Karan says, there can be no stability in BiH. “This is something that Bosniak politicians, above all, should understand, as they see in them a force for achieving unrealistic goals that BiH should belong only to them, be unitary, and that through the principle of outvoting the other two peoples would be eliminated to the point that Serbs would be reduced to the status of a national minority. That will not happen,” Karan stressed. He added that the goal of all imposed reforms has been to strengthen BiH while eliminating Srpska capacity. Karan says that all Republika Srpska institutions are obliged to protect its Constitution, which is aligned with the Constitution of BiH, and stressed that they are doing so and will continue to do so. “When the Constitution is no longer the standard, then one can no longer speak of a state. BiH is not a state; it is a classic protectorate,” Karan said. According to him, the unity of Republika Srpska’s political representatives is its shield against decisions that are harmful to it. “Our greatest opponent is our own disunity. We must increase responsibility in elections and ensure that all those who gain the trust of the people commit to policies that unequivocally protect the interests of Srpska. Politics has gone so far that the general interest is no longer visible, and citizens should punish such politicians in elections,” Karan concluded.
