CVIJANOVIĆ: KONAKOVIĆ NEITHER APPOINTED NOR WILL HE RECALL ANYONE FROM THE DIPLOMATIC NETWORK; THOSE WHO BELIEVE BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA CAN BE PRESERV

EAST SARAJEVO, March 18 /SRNA/ – The Serbian member and Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović stated for SRNA that by privatizing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within the Council of Ministers, Elmedin Konaković has contributed to the collapse of Bosnia and Herzegovina, alongside Christian Schmidt, who has dealt it a final blow.
In response to SRNA’s request to comment on Konaković’s statement that all those within the diplomatic and consular network who, as he claims, act against the interests of Bosnia and Herzegovina risk being recalled from their positions, Cvijanović asserted that he has not appointed anyone and therefore will not be recalling anyone either. ’His attempt to privatize the diplomatic and consular network in order to align it with Bosniak interests will ultimately backfire on him. His boasting about what he claims he will do through so-called diplomatic channels serves merely as self-promotion’, Cvijanović emphasized. She further likened this to Sven Alkalaj's self-congratulatory remarks about meeting with the U.S. Secretary of State and allegedly influencing his stance against the Republic of Srpska - despite doing so in a group setting with 196 other ambassadors. ’The era in which they could not only privatize Bosnia and Herzegovina’s institutions but also exert undue influence over the institutions of foreign states is coming to an end. What they have done so far has been disastrous. The diplomatic and consular network has served solely as a tool for targeting the Republic of Srpska, rather than representing the positions of Bosnia and Herzegovina’, Cvijanović stated. She further pointed out that any state reliant on threats for its preservation is a weak state - and even weaker are those who believe such threats will indeed ensure its survival. ’The results of their actions are evident, alongside Schmidt and his predecessors’, concluded the Serbian member and Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
